The Swiss “Maturité”, also known as the Matura, is a secondary education diploma that allows access to higher education at colleges, universities or technical schools worldwide.
The examinations, prepared by a committee of experts, are composed of two separate parts and cover a wide scholastic program. A Maturité degree is the hallmark of an excellent level of education and real acquired knowledge. It is recognized in all the countries of Europe and in North America.
For students at the Ecole Montessori Vevey, the Maturité is the logical culmination of their secondary studies. Indeed, it requires autonomy, openmindedness and interdisciplinary competence; qualities which are consistently developed throughout the Montessori curriculum. The rigorous level of this degree corresponds to the standards that Montessori students know and expect; a dynamic learning environment which combines a broad spectrum of technical disciplines, languages and general culture. At the same time, it is an opportunity for students to begin to orient their path in higher education, with the choice of specific branches of study and one additional option.
